Free-Spirit Records maybe based in deep, dark, north London but it sits comfortably astride the world when sourcing talent for its ever burgeoning artist roster leaving no stone unturned when seeking out artists to play lead roles in their interpretive piece, a short history of psy-trance so that they have not only the whole planet covered but also the full spectrum.
Look no further for a prime example than the latest release on Free-Spirit a feature length album called Athvika from producer Shalys. His birth certificate may reveal he is from Nantes in North West France but his tunes prove him to be a fine upstanding member of the psy-universe.
DJing since 2006 and making music not long after Shalys has steadily crafted his skills in both forms so that all those with an appreciation of his mastery can happily say that the progression to this current point in time has been a journey a crest a wave of increasing intensity with the shore that it is set to break upon still far off into the distance.
Athvika full-on both in the psy definition and that the rest of the world interprets it to mean. Nine tracks forming a singular entity that lays its credentials out early then surpasses them from that moment onwards which will result in varying behavioural responses but for this listener it meant a slowing surging resting heart rate, a subconsciousness foot tapping and an ever-increasing need to dance. By track four this urge had taken over. What will it do to you?

SHALYS ~ Bio

Shalys is full on project of Laurent Alain from Nantes in North-West France.

His first experience with music was playing the keyboard from the age of 13. In 1989 he discovered techno music and immediately fell in love with this new sound. In 2001 he began making music for fun with a groovy, psychedelic style, but only started to become truly passionate about music when he began his DJ career in 2006. He was soon playing at many parties in France, his obvious enjoyment behind the decks passing through to the public.

In 2007 he began producing Full On seriously under the project Shalys, working every day to improve his style and 2010 saw the release of his first tracks. He also has a second progressive project called Spacediver which he started in 2009.

Shalys, now signed with Free-Spirit Records, wants to invite you to continue on this musical adventure with him and help you discover its world.
